Meta Monday 40K

Warhammer 40K Competitive Monday Meta Review: Sister Act

Welcome to another Meta Monday 40K, the weekly roundup from Grimhammer Tactics covering the latest Warhammer 40K tournament meta trends.

See all past editions of Meta Monday 40K here.

Today I’ll be looking over the 3 largest Warhammer 40K events over the weekend of October 24-26th, 2025. Including both the Coventry GT 3-Day and 2-Day events over in jolly ol’ England and back to the good ol’ USofA for the Battle Brothers GT in North Carolina. Let’s take a look at how the results panned out.

Meta Monday 40K October 24 2025 Adeptus Sororitas

The Coventry GT Super Major – 3-Day Event – England – 194 Players

The Coventry GT held two events simultaneously. A 3-day Super Major featuring 8 rounds and another 2-day event going 5 rounds. This is a rather unique event format where we see two separate events happening at the same time, both with over 100 players. A good opportunity for multiple different players to earn high ranking scores and bump their elo. It should also be noted that the UKTC Events uses a different terrain layout setup for competitive events from the standard GW Layouts. The UKTC Terrain tends to be a bit more dense offering protection to expansion objectives that is sometimes lacking in GW Layouts. Let’s take a look at the Top 5 from the 3-day Super Major.

  1. Jack Tite – Adeptus Sororitas – 8-0
  2. Scott Morris – Tyranids – 7-1
  3. David Gaylard – Space Marines – 7-1
  4. Kian Tan – Adeptus Sororitas – 7-1
  5. Ben Jones – Aeldari – 7-1

The Winning List: Jack Tite – Adeptus Sororitas – Bringers of Flame

Jack Tite takes a Melta heavy Bringers of Flame list all the way to the top of the 3-day super major to an astonishing 8-0 finish among some of England’s best players. Bringers of Flame continues to be a strong Adeptus Sororitas detachment giving their units’ ranged weapons ASSAULT and +1 Strength when targeting an enemy unit within 6″. Combined with the Dominion squads and Sanctifiers 6″ Scout move and backed up by Paragon Warsuits, Castigators, Immolators and Retributors this army is packing a hell of a punch. Capitalizing on board control and powerful shooting to box the enemy in and painfully wreck anything that manages to escape the jail. Adeptus Sororitas continue to climb in the win rate column and the top 5 here featured 2 of their builds. Well done to Jack for taking this one all the way to the top.

The Coventry GT – 2-Day Event – England – 110 Players

While the 3-day event was in full swing, at the same venue we turn to the 2-day 5 round Coventry GT event which featured quite a different meta at the top end with 4 undefeated players. Let’s take a look at the top 5.

  1. Tony Barrett – Tau – 5-0
  2. Vik Vijay – Aeldari – 5-0
  3. Fernando Soriano – Tau – 5-0
  4. James McMurray – Necrons – 5-0
  5. Stephen Titmus – Black Templars – 4-1

The Winning List: Tony Barrett – Tau Empire – Mont’ka

The Top 5 here looks quite a bit different from the 3-day Super Major with 2 Tau Empire players making the top 5 and no Adeptus Sororitas. While there were multiple undefeated players in the end, Tony Barrett and his Mont’ka Tau list takes home the victory. This list is interesting as it features only a single Riptide Battlesuit and leans more into the firepower of Hammerheads. Interesting here are the two Ghostkeels, who I think are a unit that some Tau players may be sleeping on. Mont’ka allows the army to get ASSAULT always and LETHAL HITS when guided in the first 3 battle rounds making them very potent in the first half of the game.

The threat of their firepower and the idea of “waiting them out” from the opponent can help the Tau player gain crucial board control early in the game. Tony does an excellent job here scoring nearly perfect points in all of his matches. Tau continue to dominate the top ends of the meta along with Ad Mech and Adeptus Sororitas post-Q3 Balance Dataslate. Well done, Tony for taking Tau all the way to the podium here.

Battle Brothers GT – Aberdeen, North Carolina – 83 Players

We turn back to the US for the Away Games Battle Brothers GT held in North Carolina. This 5 round event featured over 80 players. The top 2 finished undefeated. Let’s take a look at the Top 5.

  1. Ryan Karrer – Tyranids – 5-0
  2. Riley Morris – Aeldari – 5-0
  3. Tivi Piechocki – Adeptus Sororitas – 4-1
  4. Ronnie Kinney – Leagues of Votann – 4-1
  5. Mark Hertel – Space Marines – 4-1

The Winning List: Ryan Karrer – Tyranids – Invasion Fleet

Tyranids continue to see success since the post-Q3 Balance Dataslate and Ryan takes a standard Invasion Fleet list we’ve all come to know and love (or hate…depending on what side of the table you’re on) all the way to an undefeated finish and event win. This list features the usual suspects we’ve all grown used to seeing in competitive Tyranids lists including triple Exocrines, Malceptors, and the Rupture Cannon T-fex along with a Hive Tyrant for free strats and a Neurotyrant for that ever important -1 Leadership Shadows test and buffing a nasty shooting unit of Zoanthropes. Per usual the Biovore fires off spores to score positional secondaries like Behind Enemy Lines and Engage on All Fronts. Throw in some trash gant units for screens for the big monsters and you have a recipe for success. A good sign if you’re a bugs player. Congrats to Ryan for taking this all the way to victory including a victory over previous LVO winner and Space Marine extraordinaire Mark Hertel in the final.

Final Thoughts

Sisters continue to climb the ranks since the Q3 Balance Dataslate taking the win in the largest event of the weekend. That said, there seems to be some good variety at the top ends with some outlier factions having solid results in the biggest events of the weekend. Tau of course look to retain their dominance moving forward and should make quite a splash as we get ready to settle into the World Championships of Warhammer next month. Surprisingly here we don’t see any top 5 placings from Ad Mech who have, since the Q3 Balance Dataslate, posted one of the highest win rates according to Stat-check.
