Top 5 Lists from WTC 2025

The World Team Championships for 2025 have come to an end with France 🇫🇷 once again finishing in the top spot as back-to-back WTC champs. Germany 🇩🇪 came in 2nd place with Team USA 🇺🇸 finishing 3rd.

The WTC is essentially the Olympics of competitive 40K featuring the best players in the world representing their country on the global stage in 6 rounds of intense competition. Team formats are becoming increasingly popular across the world and the WTC is the grandfather of this format.

In today’s article I’m going to highlight the top 5 lists at this year’s WTC event. These lists went undefeated over 7 rounds. Piloted by some amazing players, some of these lists may not be what you expect. Let’s dive in.

Top 5 WTC 2025 Lists

1. Alexander Jessen – Denmark 🇩🇰 – Thousand Sons Grand Coven

First up we have Alexander and his Thousand Sons Grand Coven build. Featuring the usual suspects you find in this powerful faction such as Magnus, the winged Daemon Prince with the Vortex enhancement, 3 Sorcerers and 18 Tzaangor Enlightened with bows, where this list differs is replacing the more commonly seen Mutalith Vortex Beast with a brick of 10 Scarab Occult Terminators.

This is definitely an interesting take on what has become the Thousand Sons most popular build. The WTC terrrain features dense ruins making maneuvering large models like the MVBs a bit cumbersome. Replacing these with Scarab Occult Terminators seems like a great choice given the terrain and matchups for the event. Led by a Terminator Sorcerer with the Crystal enhancement allowed Alexander to reposition the terminators for maximum effect.

2. Ryan Agius – Malta 🇲🇹 – Chaos Daemons Shadow Legion

Next up we have a very unique twist on the typical Shadow Legion Daemons lists we’ve been used to seeing. Ryan has opted not to bring Belakor in favor of 3 Accursed Cultist squads led by Dark Communes, supported by a ton of Pink Horrors, some Flesh Hounds, a squad of Plaguebearers and some Nurglings.

This was one of the most interesting builds at the event. With insanely tough Accursed Cultists squads moving around the board causing chaos while the Pink Horrors zone out and screen, this build is capable of exceptional board control. Ryan took this list to a very impressive 7-0 finish at the event.

3. liam Vsl – Belgium 🇧🇪 – Aeldari Aspect Host

Swooping Hawks are back in a big way. Many Aeldari lists featured 3 squads of Swooping Hawks and liam’s list brings 30 of them to the table! With incredible speed (14″+ swift as the wind Agile Maneuver for extra movement shenanigans) Swooping Hawks make excellent board control pieces. Their large base sizes (32mm) means they can screen out huge areas of the battlefield allowing those shooting units like Dark Reapers and Fire Dragons to make their target.

This list offers everything you want as an Aeldari player; tons of board control and pressure from the Hawks and Corsair Voidreavers and plenty of killing power from powerful Dark Reaper and Fire Dragon shooting. Kudos to liam for piloting this build to an undefeated finish.

4. William Fuhrimann – Switzerland 🇨🇭 – Chaos Space Marines Renegade Raiders

Next up is William Fuhrimann’s CSM Renegade Raiders build. Appropriately titled “Its time for pogo disco” this list features the usual suspects of Chaos Bikers, a Possessed brick, Chosen and Legionaires, and triple Predator Destructors, but also shores things up with a couple of Noise Marine squads popping out of Rhinos for full rerolls to hit and wound and the bouncing pogo Disco Lord. Being able to use the Opportunistic Raiders stratagem to Fall Back at the end of the opponent’s Fight Phase gives him a lot of versatility with movement.

Noise Marines are fantastic as mentioned popping out of Rhinos and shooting using the Ruinous Raid stratagem with full rerolls to hit and wound against enemy units on objectives. With the added detachment bonus of +1 AP, this really makes them a deadly choice in the army.

5. Bjorn Eriksson – Sweden 🇸🇪 – Chaos Knights Infernal Lance

Finally we have Bjorn Eriksson and his Chaos Knights Infernal Lance build featuring 3 Knight Despoilers with double Despoiler Gatling Cannons. The detachment lets them make a Malefic Surge ability letting them get either LETHAL HITS or SUSTAINED HITS 1 which makes them incredibly deadly to any opposing army. Backed up with some Daemon support and Rotigus thrown in for good measure, this army is pretty straightforward; efficient shooting platforms on cheap and durable frames with devastating firepower.

Final Thoughts

The WTC offers us a glimpse into the highest levels of competitive 40K play. The best players in the world going toe to toe with some of the most powerful army builds in the game. Teams 40K is a bit different than singles events and allows players to tailor armies to more specific matchups while giving them the ability to dodge their worst ones. Congrats to France for taking home the win and to these competitors for going against the best in the world and coming out on top.
